Wind and rapidly changing light are two of the biggest challenges for painters who work outdoors. These everyday realities necessitate keeping canvases relatively small. In the plein air world, any work over, say, 20 inches is essentially a sail.
I painted some of what you see here outdoors, but most were done in the studio using plein air pieces as reference. If you find yourself drawn to a particular painting of mine, but wish it was available at a different size, give me a call or contact one of my galleries. With few exceptions, I will happily revisit an existing painting in order to recreate it at a custom size. —Scott
